Why I do what I do?
The idea of being an event designer never crossed my mind. In my spare time I am painting, creating artifacts, designing clothes and making business brochures and flyers, and dance choreographer as a hobby and side business. My career background is diverse from working in retail stores as a sales manager and visual merchandiser to marketing and product analyst for corporate companies. Each position is an essential key factor in what I do as an event designer. The knowledge that I have acquired from my previous work history has giving me the ability to operate a business and design events from A to Z fundamentals.
Then one day my friend’s mom had a conversation with my mom and discussed the possibilities of me designing his reception. Based on my previous family parties I showed him the images via email. He called me up and talked about the ideas and went over the plans and costs but I assured him I will create a wonderful event and he told me that “I trust your creativity and that you will able to manage the event.” What I do is thanks to my mom and my friend for trusting me and giving me the opportunity to deliver my will and my skill through creating fun and extravagant artworks for different occasions.
Company History
June 2009- Designed for a friend’s reception. Placed three huge panels on stage covered with fabric of rich and intricate design patterns of swirls. The theme was modern with a white loveseat couch and side arm chair couches on the stage. Adding some flavor to the room with pink and turquoise colors and contrast color was brown to highlight the light colors. The event was held for 155 people at the Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel. The results were amazing and the feedbacks were inspirational; booked an event for the next month!
August 2009- The theme was black and white indoors and black and red outdoors. It was tad bit nerve racking because the person who I was working with is a designer themselves. So I had to bring my A game on! The black and white modern look really brought the sophistication out. The patterned overlays for the tables were gorgeous with the rubies in the marble rock centerpieces. I designed a picture frame with mannequin hand of a women coming out and holding a Manzanita tree decorated with jewels and two paintings that were attached onto the frame to represent the family tree starts with a woman. It was unique and eye catching to the guests!
September 2009- The client wanted a waterfall theme a fusion of traditional and modern setting. He had a huge family and is concern was the stage size. We made the stage 24’ feet wide by 16’ feet in depth so I designed six customized panels all by myself which folded like a story book. Set the stage with mahogany furniture and draped the backdrop with turquoise color fabric that was crunched up to give the wrinkle look for water ripples on the panels. The opposing colors where mixture of patterns consisting of stripes and chandelier patterns. In front of the panel was a four feet tall water fountain dressed up with crystals and lights. The ambiance of the room was overwhelming to the guests and attracted to all ages.
